Specialized Programs:

Fast ForWord
Fast ForWord is an Internet-based training program, which utilizes a revolutionary method for rapidly building skills necessary for language competence in children. This program stimulates the rapid development of language and processing skills by combining the principles underlying the human learning process and acoustically modified speech. Fast ForWord uses a series of adaptive games, which automatically adjust to each child’s improving level of competence.

The Listening Program
Sperling-Ratiner is an authorized provider of The Listening Program, a home-based sound stimulation auditory training program, which is based on the work of Dr. Tomatis.

The purpose of this program is to enhance the perception of a full spectrum of sound, to help engage active listening and to assist in the integration of auditory function in the ear and brain. It enables the listener to develop to their fullest listening potential.

Social Language Groups
Small group sessions are offered for 8-week periods. These groups are carefully selected so that children have the opportunity to “actively” apply skills they have learned. From initiating a conversation to asking questions, working on eye contact and “sharing” with a friend; these groups incorporate role playing, “what if” situations and are an excellent opportunity for videotaping and feedback. Focus on body language, voice/volume, turn taking and enjoying the language experience are all part of the group experience. Each child’s strengths are highlighted and used to help them achieve their communication goals.
